Visionary Bay: Attractions

25 - Underwater Expedition
(Height: 40 in.)
This 3-D motion dark ride, similar to the Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man or Transformers: The Ride 3-D found at Universal, is an adventure through the ocean where guests explore the deepest depths of the sea, encountering many perils as they do.

QUEUE:
Located in a high-tech workshop in the back of the land, near the border with Fantasy Festival, guests will come into this building where several high-tech inventions are being displayed. This includes Steampunx takes on trains, hot air balloons, and the ride vehicle guests will ride in, a submarine. As guests go through the loft, they will meet Professor Marquis de Voyager, the French engineer who designed the submarine. He wants guests to ride in it to the bottom of the ocean to see what is there. Voyager appears on black-and-white screens that play overhead from time to time.

As soon as guests near the loading area, they will pick up a pair of 3-D glasses. Then, they will board the sub, which fits up to sixteen people, and buckle their seatbelts.

RIDE EXPERIENCE:
The ride starts by going out into the submerging room. Although the ride doesn't actually go underwater, the screen here gives the illusion of it. After that, the sub goes forth into a coral reef, seeing many fish. A bunch of playful dolphins also swim past, and even some stingrays. However, when the subs come across a group of sharks, they are prompted to go down into a trench.

Once down there, things take an interesting turn. The sub comes across some sunken ruins of a lost civilization. As they travel through, some fish-like people swim up to them, warning them to turn back, or else "he will be very angry." Despite these warnings, Voyager wants to see more of the ruins, so the sub goes forward. As they approach a large pit in the ground, some giant tentacles emerge. Suddenly, the Kraken comes out and chases the subs. The subs take refuge in a cave, but then a swordfish pokes them in the glass, causing the sub to leak. Luckily, a fish-man scares it off and repairs the damage.

Then, as the sub leaves the cave, they encounter the Kraken again. This time, it hold onto the sub, but a shark bites the tentacle off and allows the sub to keep moving upwards. Once back above the trench, things seem alright again. A whale passes by, the subs go over a sunken ship, and they approach another hole. However, the Kraken comes out and chases them again. When it grabs the sub and starts pulling it in, it seems like the end of the line, but then Voyager fires some torpedoes at it, shooting the Kraken off. It then darts upwards and crashes into the bay.

As the subs go out of the water and back into the boathouse, they pass by the Kraken, who is fully realized on the right, having crashed through the floor. Voyager apologizes for the trouble and asks for the guests to keep this a secret from the others at the fair. After that, the sub returns to the loading station and the people get off.

POST-RIDE:
Guests exit into the Steampunx Store, a gift shop selling Steampunx souvenirs.
